Introductory Workshops in Philosophical Community of Inquiry

This Introductory Workshop conforms to the standards set out by the Federation of Asia-Pacific Philosophy in Schools Associations, and consists of 12 hours of in-person practical workshop, plus 6 hours of post-workshop pair work, online reflection and feedback, reading and Zoom sessions.   All FAPSA-approved Introductory Courses have been endorsed by the UNESCO Chair on the Practice of Philosophy with Children, based at the Université de Nantes in France.

Resources included: The cost of the introductory workshop includes web-based access to eight pre-planned sessions for each of Years 1 and 2, Years 3 and 4, Years 5 and 6, and Years 7 and 8.  You will also gain access to a variety of other classroom materials, including many suitable for secondary school.

Level 1 Introductory Workshop – Auckland 2026

TERM 1. March 6th and 7th (Friday and Saturday)

Host: Balmoral School

Level 1 Introductory Workshop – Wellington 2026

Term 2, May 8th and 9th (Friday and Saturday)

Host: Kilbirnie Primary School

Level 2: Advanced Practice Certificate 

These modules are delivered in accordance with the standards laid down by the Federation of Asia Pacific Philosophy in Schools Associations.  Please see further information under Professional Development. Take one or more of these modules for general PD, or all three for certification. Completion of all three modules of the Advanced Practice Workshop can be followed by a FAPSA assessment which, if satisfactorily completed, will result in the conferral of a Advanced Practice Certificate by the Federation of Asia Pacific Philosophy in Schools Associations.

May 13th – 15th, 2026.

The three day workshop includes the following modules. Day One/Module One may be attended as a stand-alone course.

Module 1: Enhancing Facilitation.

Module 2:  Understanding and Using Philosophy.

Module 3: Creating Resources.

Host School: Balmoral School

Cost: $170 per module, $110 for student and unwaged. $450/$300 for the three-day three module workshop.
